HIGH DESIGN HALLOWEEN | Dark Elegance

Halloween doesn’t have to be all ghosts, ghouls, and goblins, keep reading to get PartyROOM’s tip on throwing a halloween party with a dark and elegant ambience.

Dark and Moody

Keep the palette clean by using all black down to the linens, the ones pictured are actually a deep gray but the fabric adds a nice texture. A slightly wilted rose lends a romantic yet spooky element to the table top.

Candy Apple

Halloween Cocktail

Incorporate food and drink as apart of the decor, rich candy apples and deep plum cocktails add to the overall vibe of the evening.

Haunted House

Placing white sheets over the furniture and turning down the lights creates the atmosphere of a haunted or vacant house, adding cob webs furthers this design.

Black Bottles
Lace Candle

Turn out the lights and let candles set the tone for the evening. Spraying wine bottles with matte black and glossy black spray paint are a low cost, but elegant look. The other option is to add black lace to plain white candles.

Glitter+Skeleton

Just because its Halloween doesn’t mean you can’t use a bit of sparkle. Placing glittered skeletons under a cake stand makes a statement and is something most already have in their kitchen.

Design Inspo | Palette: Aubergine

THIS MONTH’S DESIGN INSPO BOARD IS ALL ABOUT AUBERGINE! WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE RICHNESS OF THE PURPLE SHADE, DRAWING INSPIRATION FROM AUTUMN’S MOODY HUE. THE SPECIFIC SHADES OF COLOR BLEND SEAMLESSLY WITH THE OVERALL THEME TO MAKE ANY DESIGN STANDOUT.

WE'RE ALL MAD HERE | MAD HATTER THEMED HALLOWEEN

It’s almost time for Halloween….Don’t be late…It’s a very important date! Here’s our first Halloween theme of the month!

mad hatter

Drawing inspiration from the Tim Burton adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, this theme leaves the host open to many different interpretations and adaptations for the decor. Here are a few that we love!

The beauty of this theme is that nothing has to be precious or perfect- it’s better if things are placed a bit skewed, china shouldn’t match, and one of the chairs may just be a stack of books.

cards

Oversized playing cards are an inexpensive decor element that creates and impact to any space. They can be hung on the wall in a whimsical way or can be stacked to make a house of cards.

Hedges adorned with ornate mirrors and frames add to the whimsy of the overall design.

CLEVER COCKTAILS | Halloween Edition

Cauldron

Double, double, toil and trouble….PartyROOM has some cocktails displays to share with you. The main focus of most adult soirees is the cocktail and food tables. There are a plethora of ways to make the display spooky and spectacular.

Apothecary Bottles
The-Poisoned-Apple.jpg

Using apothecary bottles to display mixers and garnishes adds an element of dark glamour and can go with several different themes. The addition of statement glasses like the one above even more festive, add a touch of dry ice to make the drinks “bubble and brew”

Hand Ice Punch Bowl

Putting water in a glove and freezing it makes for an added decor element, this can also be done with the same flavor as the specialty cocktail instead to not water down the flavor of the drink.

Beaker+Cocktail

Using beakers or IV Bags as drink vessels solidifies the overall vibe of the party, also breaking up the monotony of standard stemware.

Save VS. Splurge Fourth of July Edition

Following up on our last post about celebrating the Fourth of July the team here at PartyRoom wants to give the answers no matter what the budget may be….We are introducing a brand new blog monthly post SAVE vs SPLURGE….Event Edition!

Patriotic Popsicle

No matter the theme- there is always a way to save money when it comes to events. A key factor in keeping event costs in check is determining what elements are the most important to you. Do you want to have gourmet cuisine? Will guests be wow-ed by the decor? The fun part is….YOU get to decide!

For the Fourth of July PartyROOM is planning two separate backyard barbeques in the Hamptons. Both parties have a guest of 20 people. The first party has a budget of $250 the second has a budget of $1000 for the decor. Keep scrolling to see what we came up with…

The Red Party

The color palette was decided for us….Now the fun part, the sourcing and putting it all together. To keep the design from looking watered down we decided to focus solely on the tabletop decor.

Keep it Clean! We decided navy blue was the best color tablecloth to use as it doesn’t show any spills and can be used for multiple occasions. Paper wheels layered on the center of the table create an intriguing tablescape that can be used again.

Grab A Box! The cost of stemware and china wasn’t in the budget for this event, so we decided to add a cute twist to disposable dinnerware. Instead of stuffy place cards, we used an insulated tumbler and added our own decals (Zazzle is a great place to design your own for cheap)- This also served as a fun takeaway for guests! To give the party a laid back feel without compromising on the impact we displayed individual boxes filled with summer treats. To add another pop we wrapped the bamboo cutlery in red napkins secured with ribbon.

The Blue Party

For the blue party we decided to give the decor a nautical twist on the traditional stars and stripes given that the party is going to be near the beach and the menu is seafood heavy. For this event the client requested we purchase stemware and dinnerware as they are heavy entertainers they will use these items again and again.

Lobster and Lemons
Pennants Table Top

Read the Fine Print

We focused on the tabletop decor for this event as well because the five rectangular tables that seat 8 were the main focus of the backyard- The client already had these tables from previous parties. Because the table tops themselves were so pretty, it didn’t feel right to cover them with a tablecloth. Instead we decided to use newspaper as a table runner, and to create a back drop for the lobster. We used simple white dinner plates to and added a fun navy on each place setting. Nautical inspired flatware was the perfect compliment to red striped bistro napkins.

Design Inspo | Color Palette: Rainbow

In honor of pride month we’re drawing design inspiration from the pride flag. The Kaleidoscope of colors can be done in an elegant way to make your event pop! The possibilities for this vibrant palette are endless.

Balloons.... the perfect POP for any event!

Balloons are nothing new to event décor, they are the first thing added to the décor list for every child’s birthday party. There many different ways to incorporate them into an event without repeating the organic cascade seen on every event Instagram. Keep scrolling to see our favorite ideas at PartyROOM.

WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?

Super sizing the traditional balloon animal adds a bit of whimsy to your event!

TAKE A DIP

Create a dynamic display at a low cost by weighting 36” balloons at varying heights and scattering them throughout the pool.

Use food to enhance your color palette

The use of fresh ingredients is a must during a summer soiree, not only does to amplify the flavors of the food it will add to the overall look of your gathering. Fresh berries are the perfect addition to an other wise blandly colored cheese board. Fresh lobster tails add a pop of flavor and color to the table, especially if you’re hosting on the coast.

Keep The Color Palette Clean

The color palette for Fourth of July is already decided with red, white, and blue. Instead of using the patterning of the flag on every surface we recommend using only the colors of the flag. This gives the table a fresh look without over selling the theme. We love the idea of a navy table cloth and alternating red and white fabric napkins to represent the stripes of the flag. Blue Glassware with red florals is another way to accentuate the colors. Alternating chair colors is another twist on representing the stars and stripes.

Use Unexpected Elements

Patterns from the flag don’t have to be the only element of decor. Pennants add a nautical element to the space, the perfect addition if the menu is mostly sea food giving the event a cohesive flow. Umbrellas could be put to use as unexpected decor, particularly in areas with unpredictable showers.

Let Sparks Fly!

Use sparklers to add a punch to the celebration. They are the perfect cake topper and can be a fun activity for the kids…with adult supervision of course!

Be Respectful

With all the fun and festivities that come along with this holiday it is most important to remember to be respectful of the flag. A flag should never touch the ground or be draped across furniture as a decor item. Having it properly hung is of course a great idea!
