Our favorite Halloween Theme To Try This Year

Halloween is just around the corner and we are EXCITED!

Though summer lovin’ is a real thing here at partyROOM, there’s just something about Fall that gets us going. Whether it’s the pumpkin spice flavored everything that raids our favorite grocery aisles and local coffee shop shelves, or the warm and soothing colors of the leaves changing to shades of orange, red and brown - we simply love it.

The truth is, fall brings some of the most exciting decor opportunities and our favorite just so happens to be Halloween. Since this year you’ll probably already be stressing about whether to host your event the weekend leading up to or the weekend following Halloween (yes, this year it fell on a Wednesday - THE HORROR!), we wanted to lend a helping hand on the design front.

We’re sharing our favorite Halloween party theme this year, and all the essentials you’ll need to pull it off. So throw on a cozy sweater, light your cinnamon scented candles, sip your pumpkin spice latte and get comfortable - you’re about to get inspired.

The Ghost Insane Asylum

Overall Look & Feel: The space will feel like an abandoned insane asylum, where spooky ghost stories and horror tales lurk within the walls - a place that evokes curiosity and mystery. A central focus for the design will play on hospital features while the colors will maintain a subdued feeling of comfortable eeriness. The color palette will be white, grey, gold, black, and red.

Table & Chairs: White covered dining room chairs will keep with the color palette, while adding velcro straps around the backs of the chairs for guests to strap themselves in will enhance the theme. A white table cloth will cover the dining table where clear glass plates and gold cutlery will be placed. Centerpieces will be composed of bone props and lighting arrangements found between white cobwebs.

Lighting: White and tall candle sticks wedged into clear glass bottles will light the table setting while pin spot lighting should be placed to highlight surrounding areas (bar, dessert table, dance floor). This will mimic the chilling broken hospital lighting in an abandoned asylum.

Lounge: The bar will be a metal structure where the bartender will appear to be behind a medicine cabinet door. Drinks will be poured into Laboratory glasses (test tubes for shots, round bottom flasks and Erlynmeyr flasks for cockatails) and should be infused with red food coloring to appear as blood. Liquor bottles used to make cocktails will be replaced with blood bags. Additional seating will be dark grey lucite chairs and white leather modular sofas.

Flowers: Beige and grey tone Pamapas Grass will weave between table top and bar top objects. Tall and large vases will be sporadically placed throughout the lounge area with tall Pampas leaves drifting ominously.

Objects: Additional design objects will include Candy pill bottles, clear balloons (which will be covered by black tulle), ghost wire structures, and grey & white painted pumpkins.
